Two studies evaluated the psychometric properties and the latent structure of the Portuguese version of the Penn State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ) in a large Brazilian college student sample. Results indicated that PSWQ had an adequate internal consistency. Exploratory factor analyses yielded a two-factor solution. One factor was related to the worry presence and incorporated all the non-reversed items. The other factor was associated to worry absence and incorporated all the reversed items. Confirmatory factor analysis leaded to a three-factor solution. One factor included all the PSWQ items whereas the two other factors were linked to the reversed and non-reversed worded items. Correlations coefficients of these two reversed and non-reversed factors with the total scores of the PSWQ and the trait form of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory suggest that PSWQ has a single meaningful construct.

Iron oxide (Fe2O3, 20-40 nm), aluminum oxide (Al2O3, 50 nm) and silicon oxide (SiO2, 20-60 nm) nanoparticles were mixed in different concentrations (1 to 5 wt %) in a magnesium oxide matrix to develop new refractory matrixes as candidates in the lining of secondary ladle metallurgy. To avoid agglomeration of nanoparticles in the magnesium oxide (MgO) matrix, it was carried out a dispersion method of nanoparticles with different dispersants. After that, the powder mixture was sintered at a temperature of 1300 and 1500 °C for 4 hours. The refractory samples obtained were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (SEM-with EDX) and also measured their density and porosity. The results showed that the samples sintered at 1500 °C with 5 wt % of Fe2O3 reached the highest density and presented the MgFe2O4 spinel-type phase. With the addition of Al2O3-nanoparticles in the MgO matrix, there were the formation of MgAl2O4 spinel phase and in the case of SiO2-nanoparticles addition it was observed the formation of Mg2SiO4 forsterite phase. It is well known that with the increase in spinel phase in the matrix, there is a significant help to retain quantities of ions of iron and nickel due to the dissolution of the slag into the refractory material extending their lining life.

Summary
Introduction
Lewontin (1974) has characterized much of the history of population genetics as “the struggle to measure variation,” especially genetic variation at the molecular level. His characterization portrays a time when population geneticists were severely limited in the techniques that could be applied to organisms in natural populations. Fortunately, during the past 25 years molecular biology has supported a steady stream of innovative approaches and techniques that are widely applicable to natural populations. Chief among these have been chain-termination methods of DNA sequencing (Sanger et al. 1977) and the polymerase chain reaction (Saiki et al. 1985). From these have emerged highthroughput DNA sequencing strategies resulting in the complete sequences of the genomes of innumerable organelles, viruses, prokaryotes, and agents of infectious disease, as well as the genomes of most of the key model organisms used in molecular genetics and, of course, the human genome. The availability of genomic sequences has already resulted in the new field of comparative genomics (Koonin et al. 2000).
By contrast, in population genetics the struggle to measure variation was largely a struggle to detect differences between genotypes of organisms within a single species. Variation within populations is important because it is essential to Darwinism to understand how genetic differences within species become transformed into differences between species over evolutionary time.
